About the Institute for Bible Translation
The Institute for Bible Translation is a non-profit organization founded in 1973
whose main aim is translation and publication of the Bible in the languages of non-Slavic peoples living in Russia and other
countries of the CIS. Some of these peoples number many millions, other languages have only a few thousand speakers.
Some of the languages have a long written tradition, in others a written form is only now being created.
IBT is an international organization whose staff is drawn from all Christian traditions and denominations.
Translation
IBT strives to make accurate translations which communicate God's message in a clear and natural way.
Publishing
IBT publishes editions of good quality which are appropriate for the content of the book and the expectations of the readers.
Networking
IBT works closely with other partner agencies and with local churches, Christian organizations and scientific institutions.
Funding
IBT is financed through contributions from individuals, sponsoring organizations, and to some extent by publishing activities.
Projects
In addition to its Bible publications, IBT also produces Scripture books for children, Bible reference works and scientific materials related to the target languages.
